The Zone is not a fun place to be when the sun sets. Packs of wild dogs, mutants and the shortage of light makes it a very dangerous environment indeed.
Rostok is only marginally more fun, home to the most annoying characters I have ever seen in a computer game. I can't drink my vodka in peace without the Snitch in the corner repeating the same 2 lines of dialogue every 10 goram seconds. "Stalker, come here. I always got information for people like you." "My information could be of very well use to you stalker." Over and over again.

He NEVER shuts up
Sadly the 100 rads Bar is a no weapons area. Oddly enough, I can stash all of my belongings into one trunk in the bar, come back after a day long excursion in the Zone and wallah, everything is still there. Although that one guy keeps eyeballing my stash rather suspiciously.

Try it and I'll tear you a new one
This seemingly great degree of respect for one's property is tempered by the one instance of asshole behavior in this settlement. You'd be forgiven for thinking the guy on the floor was sleeping, until you talk to him and realise he was in desperate need of a first aid kit as his "comrades" sitting happily around the fire, either oblivious or uncaring.
Rostok - not the most interesting place to be, but it's certainly safer than out there.
