S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl: first impressions

It's my first foray into the Zone. General impression? Brutal and unforgiving.

Other points? The game is full of bugs and not really that well written (storyline wise). I'm sure some will disagree with me - all hate mail will be diligently deleted - the concept of a fictional Chernobyl is really intriguing but the NPCs really don't help move the story forward. I guess the trusted in game PDA is there to fill in the gaps as the game progresses, but the game feels somewhat unfinished.

When it comes to atmosphere I give it 10 of out 10. Plus the sense of desperation, that is starting out with very little to aid you in survival, and the constant need to scavenge for ammo and bandages means that even at this early stage S.TA.L.K.E.R. seems like an engaging experience.
