Meet Asian Shepard

10 minutes to install the game. 2 hours to create a character. The most complicated character creation system in PC gaming? Nope, just a gamer trying to create the perfect asian Shepard.

This has become a thing for me, to create an asian character in the RPGs I play: Fallout 3, Dragon Age and now Mass Effect.

Not always easy.

In Dragon Age, for example, you had a variety of flavours to choose from:  black guy, white guy, brown guy, slightly darker brown guy. That's it. The bloke I eventually came up with looked asian...kind of. Oddly, the parents both looked suspiciously white. I like to imagine a backstory involving adoption or adultery, it helps the immersion.

It took a while, and my playing about with the sliders wasn't amounting to what I wanted, then I found the perfect character template online. Amanda Shepard was born.

Oh, I've run out of space, so I'll talk next time about my first time playing Mass Effect and why I chose a female character. (note to self: you don't run out of space on a blog)
