Oooh, that star looks so pretty. Solar flares look so beautiful. Except this one is setting my ship on fire. The good news? My enemy is also on fire. Here's a hint, don't stay too long.
Okay Charlie, I need you to help me put out the fire in the weapons room. Yeah, go on, jump up and down on that fire with your big rock feet, that'll do it.
The other ship is so screwed. No weapons, no shields and no life support. Speaking of screwed, my engine room is on fire now. I put it out with Charlie's help and make our jump to the next star.
...Oh my god.
Half my ship is on fire. It looks like that last solar flare caught me just as I jumped. Somehow I managed to contain the flaming inferno. Maybe I shouldn't have named it the "Hot Prospect". Miraculously, no one died. My sick bay can work miracles, and before long my crew are back on their feet.

Next jump, and I come across another guy eager to do business. You might think I've not learned my lesson from last time as I decide to open fire. However this is not as stupid as it seems, since this guy's ship has considerably fewer hull points and weaker shields.
At my next jump, I come across a civilian ship pursued by pirates and decide to help the civilians. Usually, you get something in return for being so nice. On the other hand if you don't help, you get an awfully depressing and guilt inducing message along the lines of "The sound of your engines almost drowns out the explosions. Almost." So I swoop in. Oh dear, they have a teleporter. Did not know that. Before long there's two rockmen smashing my life support room. Yang and Charlie fail to kill them and I hurriedly send them to sick bay. There's nothing I can do for now, so I let them into the engine room and let Rennie hold them off for a while as the others are patched up.
Right, time to die. I pulverise the rockmen into dust. This is great except there's still a hostile ship, my hull is in tatters and we're losing air fast. However the enemy are looking as good as we are, and my next laser salvo finishes them off.
