The game chat is mostly "sry, srt, sry, you faggot, sry, sry."

If at first you don't succeed at hacking people's limbs off, try again. Or play a different class.

I'm of course talking about my latest favourite PC game, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Don't let the lackluster title put you off, it's got to be the most boring sounding title ever for such a brutal game. It's one of the few online mutliplayer action games I play, and probably one of the first where melee is the focus. Think Modern Warfare, but instead of shooting you're decapitating your opponents.

Lots of it
Chivalry is so addictive to play, it's fast paced and incredibly violent.
Once two groups congregate at a spot, it becomes a frantic whirlwind of bladed weapons, shouting and body parts. Timing your attacks, dodges and parries is crucial if you don't want to be impaled, hacked or slashed. Half the time it'll be from your own team. Yeah, I don't think there's ever been a game with so much friendly fire. The game chat is mostly "sry, srt, sry, you faggot, sry, sry." Closely packed groups of friends and big swords are a hilariously bad combination.

Your friends, foes and you very shortly
Yeah, sounds fun doesn't it? Like all the other noobs I went a knight. Heavy armour and big swords, that's all the enticement most of us need. Joining a team of 15 or so players, I expected to own the enemy. It didn't take long to realise I suck at being a knight. Not only was I a noob, I was being out manoeuvred by everybody and all the plate in the world couldn't save me from serious limb lopping. Currently I'm a vanguard, operating on a nice mix of power and speed. And bloodlust. Don't forget the bloodlust.

"Burned houses count as 2 peasants!"
As the vanguard, I love using my claymore. On one occasion I charged into a group like a raging bull, my claymore in a horizontal swing. I take out one foe instantly, then make a turn and lop another's head off in a downward slash. Eager to make the most of the momentum and confusion, I swing wildly at everyone in sight. By that point, I'm not even aiming. It was just about doing as much damage as I can and hoping I could separate a few more body parts from their owners. I feel so powerful wielding this massive scottish longsword.

Until I die, at which point I respawn and do it all over again.
