Editor's note:
I blogged about my customised fangs back in 2013, this is a fresh look at the amazing fangs produced by Steve Bosworth. Click the link below if you want to read about my other set.

Who doesn't like vampires? Getting a decent set of fangs can be tricky, though. I played around with individual fangs that you fit onto your canines (the pointy teeth you already have) but HobbyFx are in a league of their own.
These were perfect for my first time cosplay at Comic Con. It turned out really well and I received a lot of comments, especially about the fangs.
I decided to go as a vampire aristocrat. This wasn't a specific character, instead I was inspired by a lot of things. Interview with the Vampire, Castlevania, Vampire Hunter D. All vampire related, of course!
An aristocratic coat in a dark red was perfect for the look. For that otherworldly look as well, I wore colored contacts.
Fake nails painted black served as some appropriately evil looking talons. Very vampiric looking, but they made life difficult. After Comic Con finished, I could not pull my bank card out of the parking machine because my nails were too long! Forget sunlight and wooden stakes, this is how you defeat a vampire!
As for the fangs, Steve Bosworth of HobbyFx does an amazing job and they look incredibly realistic. They're cast as veneers, specifically for the individual, so will snap into place via the grooves in your teeth.
I was sent a molding kit (similar to how they make retainers) to make an impression of my top and bottom teeth. I dispatched it and a few months later I was the proud owner of my own set of hand made fangs. At around £100, they're not cheap but I think it's worth it.
