Remember that story in the headlines where all the staff lynched the area manager? Hmmm, why can't dreams be real? Let me take you back to 4 weeks ago...
I had mere days before leaving my old job, when the area manager paid a visit. I'll refer to him as Andre. Now Andre was determined to put on a passive aggressive tone toward me when saying things like "I thought you had left already."
Reluctantly I shook the tentacle
hand offered out to me, a gesture of thanks for my years of service.
Andre is such a slimy character. Bald and middle aged, he feigns
friendliness and has this irritating habit of wrapping everything he
says in an analogy. Just say the damn thing, you fool.
I
wouldn't have been so reluctant to shake hands if I didn't already know
about how much of a shit head he was. You see, I used to do regular
shifts at a branch in this small quiet village. I knew and got on well
with one of the dispensers. She was a young woman who had an altercation
with her boss. Our esteemed area manager Andre decided to intervene to
make sure she was being treated fairly.
Ha,
yeah right. He was being his slimy self and threatening her. He was
standing with arms stretched out over the door of the staff room, to
block her way and make her feel trapped, and coercing her with things
like "you're going to be transferred and that's final, don't argue with me." At grievance meetings, when she confronted him about this, he denied saying any of this.
What an inspirational leader, this Andre
