Frozen state, with its oppressive atmosphere and numerous ways to die, is great fun. By great fun, I mean not great fun...you know what I mean. It's bleak as hell. Bear in mind, the game is being updated and worked on over time, so it's a work in progress.
It's pretty realistic. You can starve, die of thirst, freeze to death, oh, and get killed by mutants. More on that later.
My plucky character spawns inside an old house in Chernobyl Duga 40. Let's see what goodies I'm randomly given.
An old axe. A Nagant 5 pistol, but I have no ammo Those 9mm rounds? Unless I pick up a machine gun, those're useless. Yes, it's all about being realistic. Guns need specific ammo caliber. I do have a precious hand grenade. In all my playthroughs so far (yes, I played and died many, many times already), this is a first. Also, a cyanide capsule.
First order of business is to make a campfire. Remember that emphasis on realism? Campfires consume matches, paper and firewood. It's always miserably cold and I don't see a gas switch, so the campfire is my best friend. Just as long as I keep it lit. Realism, folks.
