Remember when I wrote about Boots' misuse of public money? That issue was inextricably tied to workplace pressures within that company and the GPhC had been in talks about launching an investigation.
To my fellow Pharmacists who work at Boots, I do not envy your position. Having worked for a large pharmacy chain, I understand all too well the immense pressures placed on your shoulders. Often, by managers who bear the same qualification but not the same morals, who label themselves as "Boots Pharmacists." As though working for Boots entitles you to a different set of rules and ethics.
To the patients, please bear in mind what this means for you and the people you care about. The regulator, for some reason, has decided against acting in the best interests of the public. In this instance the GPhC has - put simply - made a cop out.

I will strive to be the best Pharmacist I can, in spite of this. I urge others to do the same and make a difference to the public. While you're doing this, never lose perspective.
On the way, never compromise your health or let your career be destroyed. You have many good years ahead of you and a long way to go before retirement.
Don't regret it, enjoy it.
