BIN!

Old magazines are the bane of spring cleaning. Most of us can't bear to part with those classic issues, the ones we promised we would read again.

5 years later, and if I stack these magazines they'd be twice as tall as me.

I finally convinced myself to toss out my precious collection (almost all of it). My incentive? For the past few years I've been buying some fun board games and have quite the bunch. My Nikon DSLR and all the associated equipment needs a shelf of its own too.

So the old magazines lost the contest for space and had to go!

Here's an idea I came upon. Cut out the articles that you might actually read again, organise them and bin the rest. 2 hours with a metal ruler and knife, and here're my results.

I had a bunch of bulldog clips that I, err, borrowed from work but a binder works well too. Yes, those are PC Gamer and White Dwarf (back when it was good). You should have expected this from me...

That's not all.

I cleaned out a bunch of other stuff too.

A bonsai tree kit from a Secret Santa? This could have been the start of my transition to a a more tranquil, meditative life. Then I reminded myself no one ever got good at bonsai from a £10 starter kit.

Happy spring cleaning and remember to recycle!
